Digital Goa, Aug 30 – Employers will be liable to pay a fine of Rs 50,000 for failing to implement the provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act. states a mandate issued by the Directorate of Women & Child Development today. “All the Government departments/Organizations/undertakings/ industrial establishments, educational institutions/ private sector organizations, hospitals, Sport Institutes, other professionals etc are hereby directed to ensure the implementation of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal ) Act, 2013, failure shall attract penalty which may extend to Rs. 50,000/- as prescribed under Section 26 of the Act for non compliance of the Provision of the Act,” states the W CD Dept release. The POSH Act is a legislation enacted by the union govt to address the issue of sexual harassment faced by women in the workplace. The Act aims to create a safe and conducive work environment for women and provide protection against sexual harassment.
