Shortage of ambulances due to increase in accident spots: Rane

    Digital Goa, Oct 22- Shortage of ambulances is leading to delay in medical aid to accident victims. Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane said that the department needs 25 more ambulances as the number of spots where accidents occur have increased. “Health Dept is short of ambulances. Earlier accidents were by and large restricted to specific hotspots. As the number of accident prone spots have increased, fleet of 56 ambulances does not suffice,” he informed. He said that efforts are on to procure new advanced, lifesaving ambulances through various means including CSR funding.
    Additional staffing and outsourcing must to put South Goa District Hospital in place
    Rane said that additional staffing and outsourcing of certain services is needed to put the systems at South Goa District Hospital in place. ICU at the hospital cannot be commissioned without additional staff and ICU staff, he said. He also informed that he has told GMC Dean to get the Cathlab at SGDH operational.
