Siolim woman duped of ₹2 lakh in fake airport detention scam

Digital Goa, July 29 – A 61-year-old woman from Siolim was allegedly cheated of ₹2 lakh after a fraudster falsely claimed that her friend had been detained by police at Mopa Airport and urgently needed money. According to police, the victim woman, a resident of Costa Wado, Siolim, received a call from a person on July 27. The caller claimed that her friend had been detained by Mopa Airport police and urgently required ₹3 lakh. Believing the story, the complainant transferred ₹2 lakh through net banking. When the caller demanded more money, she realised she had been duped and approached the police.
