Jan 3- Six individuals were arrested on January 3, 2024, for assaulting a Mumbai resident and his friends in front of Planet Goa Beach Shack, Calangute. The victim, Rohit from Mumbai, was struck with wooden stick and deadly weapons due to which he suffered serious injuries, states a complaint filed in this regards.The arrested accused are identified as Noufal P T, (28) from Kerala, Mayuresh Soudagar (34) from Pernem and Rohit Kumar ( 27), Abhishek Kumar (24), Vinod Kumar (31) and Surinder Kumar( 28), all from Himachal Pradesh. The incident occurred around 3:30 am. They have been arrested under sections 189(3), 191(2)(3), 191, 115(2), 109 r/w 190 of BNS which relate to rioting, unlawful assembly and attempt to murder.
SP North holds meeting in Calangute Shack owners
North Goa SP Akshat Kaushal informed that the injured victim who was admitted in the hospital has been discharged. He was speaking to media persons after holding a meeting with shack owners in Calangute today evening. He said that police are extensively deployed in the beach areas and shack owners have been instructed to contact the police when untoward incidents take place. “No one should take law in their own hands,” he asserted.
