Six officiating police inspectors reverted to PSI rank following High Court rulings

Digital Goa, Jan 20 – Goa Police Department has reverted six officiating/ad-hoc Police Inspectors to their substantive posts of Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) with immediate effect, following recommendations of the Police Establishment Board and in compliance with judgments of the Bombay High Court at Goa. According to the official order, the officers were reverted as they have not been completely exonerated or acquitted in pending criminal cases. Their recommendations for regular promotion to the post of PI have been kept in sealed cover until they are fully exonerated or acquitted. The officers reverted are Terence Vaz, Sandhya Gupta, Sunil Gudlar, Vilesh Durbhatkar, Sushant Gawas and Rahul Dhamshekar. The reversion approved by the Director General of Police, Goa, takes effect immediately, states the order. The High Court had ordered that either petitioner PSI Anand Narvekar be promoted to the rank of PI or that officers promoted despite pending criminal proceedings be reverted. Acting on the order, the department demoted the six inspectors who had been elevated while criminal cases were pending against them.
