Digital Goa, June 29 –Six youths from Sankhali were safely rescued after they became stranded near the Vajra Sakla waterfall in Virdi village on the Goa–Maharashtra border when heavy rainfall caused river water levels to rise suddenly. The group had visited the waterfall on June 28. With no rain at the time, they crossed three streams to reach the spot. However, while they were returning heavy showers caused the streams to swell rapidly, cutting off their return route and leaving them trapped inside the forest.Concerned after the youths failed to return home and could not be contacted, their families alerted the authorities. A joint rescue operation by the Maharashtra Forest Department, Goa and Maharashtra Police, Valpoi Fire and Emergency Services, and local volunteers traced and safely rescued all six youths.
