Smart policing tools to help Goa police tackle cyber fraud and organised crime

Digital Goa, Feb 3 – Goa Police on Tuesday launched two technology-led initiatives aimed at tightening cybercrime investigations and tracking organised criminals more effectively. The initiatives — the E-Zero FIR Module for Cyber Financial Fraud Cases and PRISM (Proactive Risk Identification & Surveillance Mechanism) — were unveiled at the State-Level Conference of Directors General and Inspectors General of Police 2025. Explaining the E-Zero FIR system, DGP Alok Kumar said all online cyber fraud complaints involving amounts above ₹1 lakh will now automatically be converted into FIRs. This, he said, will make it easier for victims to reclaim money that has been frozen in bank accounts during investigations. “This will also increase accountability,” the DGP said. Cyber fraud cases involving ₹1–5 lakh will be probed by local police, while cases above ₹5 lakh will be handled by the Cyber Crime Cell.
The second initiative, PRISM, is an Intelligent Fusion Center that will function under the Crime Branch. Using advanced technology, the centre will assist various investigating units of Goa police such as police stations, ANC, coastal police etc by providing analytical and surveillance support to fast-track investigations. The centre will also gather intelligence on interstate criminals and organised gangs operating from or targeting Goa, enabling police units to act pre-emptively and prevent crimes before they occur.
