Snooker player who represented Goa in National Games and an accomplice held for 6 burglary and bike theft cases

    Digital Goa, Nov 15- A snooker player who represented Goa in the National Games and an accomplice has been arrested by Porvorim Police for burglary and bike thefts. The accused are identified as snooker and pool player Suleman Shaikh (age 30 years) from Nuvem, Salcete and native of New Vaddem, Vasco and 30-year-old Shabbirsaheb Shadavali (second hand car dealer) residing at Ambaji, Fatorda and native of Gadag, Karnataka. The duo were involved in major house breaking burglary cases across North Goa over the last 6 months. Both the accused are involved in 2 cases at Porvorim and one each at Mapusa and Mardol while one bike theft case each at Porvorim and Margao. The accused duo were nabbed after monitoring CCTV’s of almost 50 locations. Stolen gold weighing 162 grams worth Rs 8.50 lakh, Rs 6 lakh gold kept as mortgage in many gold finance firms, 2 stolen scooters – one stolen from Porvorim and other from Navelim, Margao have been seized. During the search of residence of Shabbirsahed Shadavali at Fatorda police seized high end articles used for melting and casting gold, diamond detection kits worth around Rs one lakh. Addiction to gambling and lavish lifestyle led them to commit the crimes, informed police.
