The Cyber Crime Police Station in Goa has registered a criminal offence after an unauthorized and misleading job advertisement was found circulating on social media under the name of the Goa Staff Selection Commission (GSSC).
The fraudulent advertisement—which purports to announce a drive for “GSSC Group C Recruitment 2026 – 215 Vacancies”—was circulated online through a Facebook page operating under the name “Employment News – Rozgar Samachar.” Law enforcement authorities confirmed that the notice deceptively mimicked official state recruitment formats without any authorization or sanction from the commission.
Cyber police noted that such circulation creates severe confusion among candidates and carries a high risk of cyber fraud. Deceptive campaigns of this nature are frequently weaponized to harvest sensitive personal credentials, extract application fees illicitly, or entrap job aspirants in employment scams.
A formal case has been registered, and technical surveillance is currently underway to identify the administrators and individuals behind the Facebook page responsible for drafting and disseminating the unauthorized content.
In light of the incident, the Cyber Crime unit issued an advisory urging the public, particularly job seekers, to exercise vigilance:
- Disregard Unverified Posts: Refrain from relying on or forwarding recruitment notices surfaced solely via unauthorized social media channels or messaging apps.
- Verify Authenticity: Cross-check and confirm all employment notifications exclusively through the official portal of the Goa Staff Selection Commission (
gssc.goa.gov.in) or verified Government of Goa communication handles.
