South Goa Admin cracks down on risky monsoon water activities; 60-day ban imposed

    Digital Goa, June 29 – South Goa District Administration has prohibited swimming, bathing and entering natural water bodies, including waterfalls, rivers, lakes and abandoned quarries, for a period of 60 days from June 26 to prevent monsoon drowning incidents.The order has been issued by District Magistrate South under Section 163 of the BNSS. “Entry to waterfalls is not prohibited. However, swimming, bathing, entering the water, diving, cliff-jumping, or engaging in any other water-related activity in or around waterfalls shall remain prohibited. Guided eco-tourism visits conducted or authorised by the Goa Forest Development Corporation (GFDC) and Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) shall be permitted, subject to compliance with all safety protocols and directions issued by the concerned authorities,” states the order issued in this regards on June 26.
