South Goa’s crime rate declined by 28 percent this year with murders reduced by over 60%, says SP South

Digital Goa, Dec 18 – South Goa has registered decline in the number of crimes in 2023 compared to last year. According to SP South Abhishekh Dhania, there has been decrease of almost 28 percent in the registration of IPC cases in South Goa this year compared to last year. This year 768 cases under IPC were registered compared to 1070 cases reported last year. There has been even sharp decline in the number of heinous cases this year, he added. Only 9 murders have been reported this year compared to 25 cases of murders reported last year. In 2021, 16 murder were reported while 2020 and 2019 the number of murders reported was 13 and 19 respectively. However, there has been increase in the POSCO and rape cases in South Goa from 32 to 34.
