Panaji, May 7, 2025 – The Social Welfare Department will launch a special drive from May 12 to clear pending applications under the Atal Asra Scheme, announced Minister Subhash Faldessai. Currently, 6,000 applications are pending across Goa, and the target is to clear up to 200 applications per constituency this year. The drive will initially be conducted in Balli, Canacona, Sanguem, Bicholim, Sakhali, Dharbandora, and Poriem. The minister clarified that only pending applications will be processed; new applications will not be accepted during this drive. Since its inception, the scheme has benefited 2,564 people, with a total disbursement of Rs 56 crore. Under Atal Asra, eligible beneficiaries from economically weaker sections, especially SC, ST, and OBCs, receive Rs 3 lakh for house construction and Rs 1.5 lakh for house repairs.
