State Congress to take first call on Assembly Poll alliances says Kharge

    Digital Goa, August, 18 – Goa Congress leadership will take the initial decision on alliances for the 2027 Assembly elections, which will then be sent to the party high command for final approval, informed AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge. The national party leader who chaired the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting with Goa Congress leaders, said he received an assurance from local leaders that they would fight the 2027 elections unitedly. He accused the Goa government of trying to intimidate and suppress people and stressed that Congress leaders must avoid internal differences and work together peacefully to win the elections. Kharge also met representatives of various sections of society and interacted with youth. Meanwhile, former GPCC President Amit Patkar claimed he was not invited to the PAC meeting. Disputing the claims, GPCC president Girish Chodankar on his part claimed that Patkar was sent an invitation and contacted several times by party leaders. Social activists, SC leaders, CSJP (Council for Social Justice and Peace) and CAG( Catholic Association of Goa) leaders met Kharge and raised issues including MLA defections, SC concerns and the proposed FCRA Amendment Bill.
