State gears for monsoons; preparedness funds announced for panchayats and civic bodies

Digital Goa, May 18 – Goa government has sanctioned funds at multiple administrative levels to strengthen monsoon preparedness across the state, CM Pramod Sawant informed on Sunday. As part of the allocation, panchayats have been provided grants ranging from ₹35,000 to ₹40,000, while Class B and C municipal councils will receive between ₹60,000 and ₹70,000. The Corporation of the City of Panaji(CCP) has been allotted ₹1.10 lakh to ₹1.20 lakh. Sawant said larger allocations have also been made to district administrations, with nearly ₹4 crore earmarked for North Goa, ₹3 crore for South Goa, and ₹2 crore for the newly created Kushavati district. In addition, ₹5 lakh each has been sanctioned for both deputy collectors. The funds are intended to support precautionary measures, civic works and emergency response arrangements ahead of the oncoming monsoon season.
