State-of-the-art Automatic Weather Stations to be set up at 5 wildlife sanctuaries in Goa

Digital Goa, Jan 23 –  Goa Forest Department will be setting up state-of-the-art network of General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) based Automatic Weather Stations at 5 wildlife sanctuaries in the state as part of augmentation of surface observation network.  The GPRS based AWS will be installed at 5 sites and Central Data Receiving and Processing Station will be set up at Van Bhavan, Altinho, Panaji. Areas to be covered with the network include Bondla wildlife sanctuary Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park, Mollem Madei Wildlife Sanctuary Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary. The system is to be developed by spending Rs 65 lakh.
