State to put forth demand of Rs 28,000 crore before 16th Finance Commission: CM

Jan 3- Goa will put forth a demand of Rs 28,000 crores before the 16th Finance Commission which is slated to visit the state on Jan 9 and 10, informed CM Pramod Sawant. As the population and the area of Goa is less, the state received 0.35 % of the overall funds thus far, however we will demand for 1 % funds this time, Sawant added. He said that although the resident population is less, Goa has a floating population of around one crore including tourist, migrants etc. Sawant further gave departmentalise breakup of funds to be sought from the commission- Tourism Dept Rs 1693 crore, Education Dept – Rs 1536 crore, Health Dept Rs 631 crore, Power Dept Rs 4,160 crore, Green Energy Rs 7350 crore, Public works dept Rs 5460 crore, WRD Rs 3401 crore, Disaster Management Rs 1980 crore, Waste Management Rs 733 crore and Climate Change Rs 379 crore.
