Digital Goa, Nov 1- Stopping the land grabbing scam by forming Special Investigation Team(SIT) and taking stringent action against those involved is a ‘great achievement’ in his tenure as Chief Minister, claimed CM Pramod Sawant today. He lauded the one man commission of inquiry header by retired Justice Jadhav for completing the probe and submitting the report in record time. “Over the past 15 to 20 years land belonging to Goans, govt land, no man’s land etc were sold fraudulently by creating fake records. I formed the SIT after a common man brought the scam to my notice,” said Sawant. Stopping of the scam has prevented land belonging to Goans and the govt to be sold to others in fraudulent manner, he added. If the scam was not identified and stopped, it would have continued and lakhs of sq mtr more land would have been sold by the seven scamsters, Sawant asserted. Advice and suggestions specified in the report submitted by the one man commission will be considered by the govt to decide on future course of action, he added. CM said that govt staff from archives dept who helped the scamsters have been suspended and action will also be initiated against other involved.
