August 22, 2024 – Goa government has decided to double the subsidy for artisans on clay idols this Ganesh festival. The Goa govt was providing a subsidy of Rs 100 on each clay Ganesh idol to discourage people from buying plaster of Paris idols, which are harmful to the ecology. This year the subsidy has been increased to Rs 200 per idol subject to maximum 250 idols per artisan.
