Feb 6- Supreme Court today dismissed the Goa government’s fresh Special Leave Petition (SLP) challenging High Court’s ban on construction in the ODP areas of Calangute, Candolim, Arpora, Nagoa, and Parra. The SC division bench refused to entertain the plea. During hearing, Justice Sharma cautioned against turning Goa into a “concrete jungle”, informed petitioner Goa Foundation. Goa govt had filed a SLP in Supreme Court on Jan 31, 2025 to challenge the order of the High Court given on Jan 23, 2025. With the Supreme Court’s rejection, the High Court is set to conduct the final hearing and disposal on February 20, 2025. The case, originally filed by the Goa Foundation, has been contested for over a year in High Court and Apex Court as the state government sought to defend the zoning changes in the ODPs.
