Supreme Court pulls up Goa, other states over failure to act on stray dog menace

Digital Goa, October 27 – The Supreme Court on Monday expressed strong displeasure with several states and Union Territories, including Goa, for failing to comply with its directions on controlling the stray dog menace. The court observed that the inaction of states was affecting the country’s image and has now ordered the personal presence of Chief Secretaries of the defaulting states on November 3. The bench noted that only the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the governments of West Bengal and Telangana have filed their affidavits so far. It directed that Chief Secretaries of all remaining states and Union Territories, including Goa, must appear before it at 10:30 am next Monday and explain why compliance reports have not been submitted.
