Digital Goa, July 11 – Supreme Court has stayed the work on the Rs 77 crore worth cable stayed Keri to Tiracol bridge and issued notices to Goa State Environment Impact Assessment Authority and other respondents in the matter. The apex court order came yesterday in appeal filed by Goa Foundation in the NGT order in the matter. “Issue notice, returnable on 18.08.2023. We make it clear that in the meanwhile the construction of Tiracol River Bridge shall not commence,” states the Supreme Court order. Goa Foundation had approached the Supreme Court after National Green Tribunal had dismissed their application in the matter. The green NGO had said in its petition before NGT that it was evident from the records of the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (GSIDC) that the bridge was intended to benefit a private golf course resort to be located in Tiracol village. As per GSIDC, as of today 38 % of the 705 meter bridge (including approaches) work has been completed.
