Digital Goa, July 31 – Goa Cyber Crime Police have arrested 23-year-old man from Surat, Gujarat, in connection with a cyber fraud involving rs 97 lakh. The accused, Arhasad Aiyyub Shaikh, allegedly impersonated TRAI and CBI officials using multiple WhatsApp numbers and coerced a North Goa resident into transferring the amount under the threat of a “digital arrest”. The fraud was executed by linking the complainant’s SIM to human trafficking claims. The accused’s account is reportedly linked to similar cyber crimes across Maharashtra, Kerala, Telangana, Karnataka, and Goa, totalling ₹1.2 crore.
