Oct 14- Tamnar Project in not to facilitate SEZs in Goa and has been implemented as per Supreme Court directions, asserted Power Minister Sudin Dhavlikar. Green NGO Goa Foundation’s Counsel had submitted before the Supreme Court that there can be no objection for implementation of the recommendations made by Central Empowered Committee(CEC) in the respect of realignment of the transmission line, said Sudin. He added that the Tamnar power transmission line is needed as the states power demands is continuously increasing and will reach 1200 MW in near future. He refuted allegations allegedly made by Environmentalist Claude Alvares that the project has been brought to facilitate SEZs in Goa. Sudin asked Alvares to sit with the department officials and get requisite information about the project. Sudin also asked public to exercise caution in areas through which the line passes ,as Tamnar transmission lines would be activated anytime. Electric fields may be created within 30 meter radius in view of thunder and lightning, he added.
