Digital Goa, July 15 – Some IAS officers in the state administration have yet to fully grasp the ground realities of taxi-related issues within Goa’s unique socio-economic context, BJP State President Damu Naik opined. He was speaking to the media after a meeting of BJP and alliance MLAs held on Tuesday. There is a tendency to view local issues faced by taxi operators through the lens of metro cities like Delhi or Bangalore. They assume operators earn like in metros, but in Goa, there are days without regular or return customers. These factors need to be taken into consideration, Naik remarked. Emphasising the need for inclusive policymaking, he said local MLAs, taxi operators and their associations must be taken into confidence. “If 90 are on one side and 10 on the other, we will have to listen to the 90,” he stated, adding that a standardised solution may not suit Goa’s specific conditions. A day earlier, the BJP core committee meeting saw the formation of an 11-member panel under CM Pramod Sawant to study the issue and address concerns surrounding app-based taxi services.
