Aug 26 – Goa govt has accepted 5 of the 6 demands of the striking Taxi operators from Pernem and they have agreed to withdraw their strike, announced CM Pramod Sawant today. Taxi operators from Pernem have been agitating 24×7 at Pernem for past 5 days braving the heavy rain showers. Taxi operators across the state have extended their support to the agitation. “Their 6th demand is removal of Goa Miles. Govt will not agree on this,” asserted Sawant. “Starting GoaMiles cab aggregator in the state was a policy decision and they have been offering good and quality services. We have not invested anything in them, moreover they are paying GST to us,” Sawant asserted. 6 demands of the operators included – Locals should be given taxi counter free of cost at Mopa Airport, hike in parking charges and arrival pick up charges to be rolled back, stopping of all illegal practices at Mopa airport like private taxi, private rental service, rent a cab etc., keeping the existing road to Mopa Airport open for local commercial vehicles, no tolls on Mopa Airport Link road for taxi operators and removing cab aggregator counter from Mopa Airport.
