Aug 6 – State has witnesses record monsoon this season. Monsoon has already created few records this time such as highest rainfall in July month in last 124 years. Today monsoon created yet another record by achieving the total average rainfall of the season even as just over half the season is completed. Goa generally receives an average 3277.9 mm rainfall in a season. Today, the actual average rainfall recorded in Goa is 3289.5 mm, surpassing the annual average rainfall for the state. However, only 66 days have passed of this monsoon season and another 56 days of active rainfall are still remaining. According to the experts, total average rainfall this season is likely to cross 4,000 mm, which will be another record of sorts. Interestingly, Valpoi and Sanguem has already surpassed 4,000 mm mark. Goa has received 52.7 percent surplus rain as of today.
