Digital Goa, Nov 1 – High Court has scheduled hearing in the contempt petition filed by Goa Foundation and the petition seeking notification date extension filed by Goa govt in the Tiger Reserve matter on Monday, Nov 6. After the state government failed to notify the Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary and the area around as a tiger reserve within the three-month deadline set by the high court, the Goa Foundation had on Monday approached the high court seeking a direction to issue notice under the Contempt of Courts Act. Goa government has also filed a miscellaneous civil application before High Court seeking an extension of the deadline to notify the tiger reserve. The deadline given by the court had expired on Oct 24.
Goa govt contended before the court today that steps are being taken by the govt to protect the wildlife. Govt also pointed out to the court that the Special Leave Petition filed by Goa govt before the Supreme Court challenging the HC’s Tiger reserve notification order will come for hearing on 7th or 8th of November.
