Digital Goa, Oct 22 – Goa Tourism Department has announced a crackdown illegalities in water sports activities, more specifically on the illegal sale of water sports tickets by unregistered and out-of-state travel agencies. Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, who chaired a meeting with coastal MLAs along with water sports associations, the Captain of Ports, and senior officials, warned that unauthorized ticketing will be treated as a punishable offence under the amended nuisance law. Expressing concern that many agencies, including those from Maharashtra, have been selling Goa water sports tickets online without permission and also luring tourists to water sports destinations in Maharashtra, the Minister warned of stringent action against all such operators. Only recognised Goan associations and official platforms will be allowed to sell tickets, he asserted adding that Tourist Police and various department officials will be deployed to ensure enforcement. The Minister also informed that uniform rates for water sports activities across Goa which have been officially notified recently will be displayed on rate boards at tourist places. To further ensure transparency, the department also plans to introduce standardized kiosks, colour-coded counters, and ID cards for staff.
