Digital Goa, Oct 9- PWD’s Works Division has announced a phase-wise closure of the entire old Borim Bridge on NH-566 to undertake urgent and essential repair work of the nearly 40-year-old bridge. The closure, which primarily affects nighttime and weekend traffic, is necessary for the replacement of spherical and central hinge bearings, as well as the installation of temporary support structures. The most significant restriction applies to heavy vehicles, which will be completely prohibited from using the old Borim Bridge for a period of 23 days, effective from 8 pm on Saturday, October 11, 2025, until 6 am on Sunday, November 2. The repair work, critical for the structural integrity of the bridge, will be conducted in four distinct phases, mainly scheduled for the weekend nights to minimize disruption during peak traffic hours.
