Trawler owner found dead in Zuari river; two workers under suspicion

Digital Goa, June 1 – The body of a 65-year-old trawler owner was recovered from the Zuari river on Sunday, with police suspecting foul play and investigating the role of two outstation workers who had accompanied him on a fishing trip. The deceased has been identified as Manjunath Harikant, a native of Sirsi in Kumta, Karnataka, who had been residing in Goa for several decades. According to fellow boat owners, Harikant had gone fishing at sea along with two workers. His trawler was later found parked at Khariwada, Vasco with the fish catch still on board, raising suspicions about the circumstances surrounding his death. Investigators have reportedly obtained CCTV footage showing the two workers leaving their rented accommodation. Fellow boat owners suspect that the workers may have harmed Harikant and disposed of his body in the sea before it was recovered from the Zuari river. Further investigation is underway, and police are awaiting more details in the case.
