Sept 26 – Goa govt has notified the amended Child Labour related rules which specify a mechanism to ensure action against industries, restaurants, and other businesses operating in the state who employ children and adolescents along with other changes. The Goa Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Amendment Rules, 2024 have been modified to this effect. The rescued children and adolescents shall be rehabilitated. The rules related to employment of children in family enterprises are also specified in the amendment. As per the rules govt will allow children to work in their family enterprises if it does not affect education and the tasks assigned to them are not hazardous. Any producer of any audio-visual media production or any commercial event involving the participation of a child will have to obtain the permission from the District Magistrate of the district where the activity is to be performed, states the Rules. Govt had sought objections and suggestions from the public on the draft rules in June this year.
