Two girls brought for Mujra rescued from Ashvem resort; Hotel owner & accomplice arrested

    Police seek sealing of the resort
    Digital Goa, Jan 18- Pernem Police have busted a prostitution racket operating from high end resort in North Goa and rescued two victim girls hailing from North India. The owner of the resort Vijay Kumar Sarkar, age 44 yrs , native of Jharkhand and his assistant Ajit Kumar Jha, native of Bihar have been arrested in the raid. The raid was conducted by Pernem Police Station at Boomerang Resort at Ashvem, Mandrem yesterday evening with the help of ARZ NGO. Police said prima facie they have suspicion that accused were involved in arranging Mujra dance to wealthy customers, wherein young ladies are subjected to sexual exploitation. Police have collected digital records including CCTV footage and photographs of victims including online payment done to the accused persons and informed that more arrests are likely in the case. A letter has been moved to the Magistrate by the police to seal the Resort, as it is used as brothel U/s 18 of Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act 1956. Both the accused persons were produced before the Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Pernem and 10 days Police Custody has been given to them. The victim girls have been admitted in protective home.
