Jan 6- Union health ministry has confirmed that two cases of HMPV have been detected in Karnataka. A 3-month-old girl and a 8-month-old boy have been tested positive in a hospital in Bengaluru during routine surveillance, informed the Ministry. Both have a history of bronchopneumonia and the girl has already been discharged, while the boy who was tested positive on Jan 3 is recovering, the Ministry’s release added. Neither of the affected patients have any history of international travel. The spread of the HMPV, a respiratory illness with flu-like symptoms similar to Covid-19, in China, has raised health concerns globally, with countries closely monitoring the situation.
