Two Ro-Ro ferries to be deployed on Diwar–São Pedro route by Dec 2026; Panaji-Betim next in line

Digital Goa, Dec 29 – The River Navigation Department (RND) will introduce two 21-metre Ro-Ro ferries on the Diwar–São Pedro route by the end of 2026, RND Director Vikram Rajebhosle said. He informed that two special ramps required for operating the Ro-Ro ferries will be constructed before the monsoons using funds from the disaster management head.The new vessels, expected to be ready by June 2026, will have the capacity to carry eight to nine four-wheelers, around 20 two-wheelers and nearly 50 passengers. At present, two 35-metre Ro-Ro ferries are already operational on the Ribandar–Chorão route. In the next phase, the department also plans to deploy two Ro-Ro ferries on the Panaji–Betim route, the director added.
