The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has cautioned students against enrolling in technical courses advertised by edtech companies without verifying the required regulatory approval. In a public notice, the Council said some companies are offering degree and diploma programmes through franchise arrangements with AICTE-approved universities or institutions. Such franchise arrangements are not permissible, it stated. An association, collaboration, partnership or tie-up with a university does not, by itself, constitute AICTE approval, the notice asserted.Students and parents have been advised to verify approval status at www.aicte.gov.in. Those already enrolled, or wishing to report such institutions, can lodge complaints at https://facilities-aicte-india.org/grievance_project/.
