Digital Goa, August, 10 – A protest against railway double-tracking work at Velsao turned tense after villagers, activists and political leaders brought heavy machinery to clear materials allegedly obstructing access to more than 20 houses.Residents claimed that materials placed as part of the ongoing railway work had blocked their traditional access routes, making it difficult to reach their homes. Machinery including JCB was brought to the site as protesters attempted to remove the materials placed at the site by Railways and restore access. A heavy police presence was deployed as tensions rose, with personnel monitoring the situation to maintain law and order.Villagers demanded immediate intervention by the authorities to ensure that the affected households have uninterrupted access.
