We have complained to Chief Secretary : Power Minister over SIR duty row

Digital Goa, Nov 7 – Power Minister Sudin Dhavlikar has said that the Electricity Department has lodged a complaint with the Chief Secretary after police, acting on the orders of a Deputy Collector, took away an on-duty Assistant Engineer for failing to report for SIR duty. “We have complained to the Chief Secretary. He will make a proper inquiry into the matter and come to a conclusion on what is to be done,” Dhavlikar said. The minister termed the Deputy Collector’s action as “wrong,” emphasizing that Assistant Engineers assigned to key substations such as 220 KVA and 110 KVA are responsible for uninterrupted power operations and cannot leave their posts under any circumstances. “They are not allowed to go from there. Moreover, we do not even permit them to take phone calls. In addition, no one has authority to enter these substations without permission,” Dhavlikar asserted.
