Digital Goa, Feb 9 – Goa govt will distribute leaflets along with fortified rice given through fair price shops specifying the pros and cons of consuming the rice, CM Pramod Sawant told the house. The leaflets will be in English, Marathi and Konkani. FSSAI has issued statutory warning stating that fortified rice is not advisable for Thalassemia or Sickle Cell patients. Congress MLA Carlos Alvares Ferreira had raised the concern on the floor of the house as to whether beneficiaries were aware of the statutory warnings related to the rice. Sawant also said that if such patients inform the govt, provision to provide them with regular rice will be made.
