Will not finalise taxi policy without taking operators into confidence: CM

Digital Goa, September 10 – Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday advised taxi operators not to waste time rallying outside the Assembly complex, reiterating that the state government will not finalise the taxi policy without taking them into confidence. “They should trust the government and me. We will be 100% taking them into confidence. They need not come and stand outside the Assembly like this ,” Sawant said. The CM explained that while September 10 was earlier given as a timeline, the dates may vary by a couple of days as preparation of the draft policy is in progress. He said 20-21 members of taxi associations will be shown the draft in detail before publication, and their concerns will be addressed. In the meeting held on August 22, the government had assured operators of a fresh policy by September 10. CM had said then that the new policy would supersede the Goa Transport Aggregator Guidelines, 2025, and would focus not just on rate rationalisation but also on transparency, security, and the safety of tourists.
