Dec 22 – Goa’s total recorded forest area stands at 1271 sq km which is 34.33 percent of the total geographical area of the state. The India State of Forest Report 2023 prepared by Forest Survey of India of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change was released today in New Delhi. According to the report, Goa has 755 sq kms of protected forest and 397 sq kms of unclassified forest besides 119 sq km of reserved forest as of 2023. As per the 2021 report, Goa having 3702 sq kms geographical area, had 539 sq km very dense forest, 576 sq km moderately dense forest and 1130 sq km open forest.
