Digital Goa, Dec 28 – A woman from Nagamasjid, Ponda, died on the spot after a dumper truck rammed into a two-wheeler at Varkhand, Ponda, on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Swati Rathod. Her minor son sustained serious injuries in the accident and is undergoing treatment at GMC. The accident occurred around 3.30 pm when the woman, along with her husband and minor son, was travelling on a two-wheeler.
Following the incident, angry locals staged a protest at the accident site and blocked the truck. Locals are demanding due compensation for the family of the deceased woman. The situation escalated as members of the public set a JCB machine on fire at the site of the contractor to whose premises the dumper truck was headed. The dumper truck driver has been arrested by the police. South Goa SP Tikam Singh Verma is present at the site along with the police and forensic team.
