Jan 23- Five person including a master mind from Panvel, Maharashtra has been nabbed by Mapusa police for cheating people on pretext of giving gold loans. The accused are identified as 47-year-old mastermind Manish Ambekar from Panvel, 24-year-old Shiv Ambekar, 42-year-old Ravi Chavan, 20-year-old Karan Chavan and 20-year-old Yash Chavan. Manish has over 9 cheating cases registered against him in Maharashtra. Police have recovered Rs 59,500 cash and seized Maharashtra registered jeep with commercial numberplate. The gang allegedly operated from around the premises of a gold loan finance company in Mapusa and duped gullible loan seekers. Police initiated the arrests following complaint from a lady for Paliem, Uccasaim that she was duped by Manish Ambekar to the tune of Rs one lakh on pretext of giving gold using which she could take loan. Police nabbed the accused using CCTV footage from the finance company and nearby vicinity.
