Jan 24- Goa govt has sanctioned Rs 128 crore for the redesign and strengthening of the 28-km-long Tillari canal, informed CM Pramod Sawant today. Half the work is completed, the remaining work will be finished within stipulated timeline, he asserted. Tillari Project supplies 240 MLD of water to North Goa.With increasing demand, this requirement is projected to rise to 500 MLD, informed Sawant. He was speaking to media persons after inspecting the Tillari Irrigation Project and canal work along withWRD Minister Subhash Shirodkar. CM asserted that redesigning and strengthening initiatives of WRD will guarantee uninterrupted water supply to key drinking water treatment plants – Assonora, Guirim, and Pilerne on the left bank, as well as Chandel, Mopa, and Dhargalim on the right bank.
Incidentally, damage to Tillari canal at Kudase, Dodamarg this morning has disrupted raw water supply to water treatment plants in North Goa.
