Feb 24 – Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane gave directions to suspend two ambulance drivers and one overall in-charge attached to North Goa District Hospital at Mapusa for dereliction of duties. Rane held a surprise check at the hospital today. He said more suspensions are likely. The employees to be suspended are Yashwant Gauthankar, Subodh Naik and Gurudas, informed Rane. He alleged that ambulance drivers damage the vehicles on purpose, take leave and stay at home thus affecting the emergency service. He also conceded that there is shortfall of ambulances. Rane said that govt is considering bringing all ambulance and hearse van services in the state under the ambit of 108.
Pointing out that some private ambulances are operating from the basement of the North Goa District Hospital, he asserted that due action will be initiated in this regards.
▪️ Non operational CT scan machine to be replaced soon
He also informed that the CT Scan machine at the hospital which is none operational for over past 7 months will be replaced soon. Rane also said he has instructed Apex Kidney Care which runs dialysis center at the hospital to ensure that consultants pay more frequent visits to the hospital and also provide basic utilities like blankets to patients.
▪️ Let GSIDC maintain hospitals built by them
Health Minister said he will put a proposal before CM Sawant to let GSIDC maintain the hospitals built by them.
▪️ Accused will not be given priority over emergency patients
When media persons pointed out that accused brought to the hospital for medical check up are given priority over emergency patients, he said he will issue directions to ensure that the practice is stopped.
