GHRDC workforce to double by 2027, Govt to bear GST on salaries: CM Sawant

Digital Goa, Mar 4- Number of Persons employed under Goa Human Resource Development Corporation(GHRDC) will be increased from present 4,000 to 8,000 by 2027, announced CM Pramod Sawant today. He was speaking at the GHRDC Annual Day 2025 program. He also announced that from next month Goa govt will bear the 18 % GST on salary which was applicable to GHRDC employees. Due to this salaries for the staff will increase by Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000, he added. Asserting that employment at GHRDC is not temporary but permanent, Sawant said that those completing 2 years of probation period with clear antecedent will be confirmed in service. In addition those with 2 year probation and one year conformation experience will be given 10 % reservation in uniformed services such as police, fire and forest along with 5 year relaxation in age criteria. He however warned that those not sincere with their work will have to go through probation period again and will not be confirmed. He also announced that 6 months paid maternity facility will be extended to GHRDC staff. In addition, staff wishing to take up further education, both in terms of degrees and courses will be paid course fee of upto Rs 10,000 per year by the govt for any course of their choice. Govt will tie up with IGNOU and other skilling universities operating in correspondence mode to provide skilling, reskilling and upskilling opportunities to the staff. Also, GHRDC staff wishing to work abroad can do so through BVG group by taking 2 years extraordinary unpaid leave from the corporation, informed Sawant.
