Digital Goa, Mar 18 – Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has disposed of a case filed by the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) against the police alleging that a minor child who was a victim of sexual abuse was unnecessarily subjected to psychological assessments at IPHB by police despite prior instructions by CWC specifying that it was not required. GHRC in its order issued today said that they have found no human rights violations and that the victim child was referred to the IPHB by GMC Bambolim. The commission however stressed the need for better coordination between the police and the CWC in handling cases of sexual abuse. The CWC in its complaint to the commission had sought that specific guidelines and directions be issued for subjecting the POCSO victims for mental/ psychological assessments. Alleging that Women Police Station officials were uncooperative and disrespectful CWC had also sought action on the erring officials. However, no directions in this regards have been issued in todays GHRC order.
