Digital Goa, Apr 7 – Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari informed that the Centre has sanctioned Rs 1,060.21 crore for the four-laning of a 7 km stretch from Bhoma to Old Goa on National Highway 748. Due to limited Right of Way and severe congestion in areas like Bhoma, Corlim, and Ella, the project includes the construction of two elevated corridors totalling 4.275 km, along with 7-metre-wide service roads on both sides, he further added. The highway, earlier known as NH-4A, connects NH-48 near Belgaum in Karnataka to NH-66 near Panaji spanning 153 km serves as a vital link for passenger and freight traffic from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka to Goa, he said. Gadkari went on to add that the upgradation will complete the four-lane Panaji–Khandepar corridor, enhancing connectivity and easing congestion.
