Digital Goa, Apr 8- Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho said today that the recent High Court order concerning illegal structures primarily targets commercial constructions along highways that hinder road widening. “There is nothing in the order that mandates demolition of residential houses,” he asserted. “As regards houses, High Court has asked the govt to take decision as per Panchayati Raj Act or other Acts etc and take the cases to logical conclusion. We will take the matter to its logical conclusion by protecting genuine local people who are staying in these houses for so many years,” said Mauvin. He emphasised that the government is actively addressing the matter and will ensure that genuine Goan families are not put through unnecessary hardships. He further assured that any decision on residential structures will be taken with careful consideration. Godinho also mentioned that inputs from all line departments—including panchayats, collectors, municipalities, and the town and country planning department—will be taken to frame necessary legislation to protect the interest of Goans.
