Renowned singer Ajit Kadkade was conferred with Goa’s highest civilian award — the Gomant Vibhushan — at a function held in Panaji today. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who presented the award, said that Kadkade has become a household name in Goa and Maharashtra for his devotional songs. The Chief Minister further stated that Goa is the only state in the country to appoint music teachers in schools. A documentary on the life of Ajit Kadkade was also screened at the function.
