Digital Goa, July 9 – Members of AITUC Goa staged a protest at Azad Maidan today, expressing solidarity with the nationwide general strike called by 10 central trade unions. The protestors opposed several policies of the central and state governments alleging that they favour corporate interests over the rights of workers, farmers, and the poor. Anganwadi workers and helpers under the banner of the AITUC-affiliated Akhil Goa Rajya Anganwadi Karmachari Sanghatana Union also joined the protest. They demanded regularisation of services, recognition as government employees, and extension of benefits such as pensions.
